Getting there

I'm not exactly sure how to do this whole blog thing, but I'll try my best.

I'm hoping to use this blog to catalog all the things I see and learn and do on my trip to Thailand. I'm using this trip to get the international portion of my international experience minor, so this blog should be helpful in showing all the amazing things I learn on my trip and how I can apply those experiences to my life and my major.

As of now, I'm sitting in the Gerald R. Ford Airport in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My flight to Chicago has been delayed twice already and my dad had to rebook me on a later flight to Tokyo (thanks, dad!). Hopefully there will be no more delays and I can still make my flight from Tokyo to Bangkok.

I'm going to Thailand to visit my aunt, uncle, and cousins who live there. Jeremy, Tara, and their sons Brady and Carson moved to Bangkok last summer due to Jeremy's job. It's a fairly temporary relocation - only a couple years until they move back to the States - so I'm very blessed to have this opportunity to go and visit them. I haven't seen them in a while, so I'm excited to see them soon! (Hopefully I won't be too jet lagged!!)

I'm a little nervous because this is my first time traveling outside the US (alone, too), but I'm glad I've got people I know on the other end, or else I'd probably be freaking out. I think the excitement outweighs the nervousness, anyway.
